In this section I will be looking at the Real World implications of poor choices when it comes to Accessibility in Design. Signage plays a huge role in all our lives, even if it does tend to take a back seat. Even just walking around outside for as little as 10 minutes, you will come across all shapes, sizes and styles of signs. To prove this, I spent around 15 minutes walking around my neighborhood and took a photo of every sign I saw:
All of these signs have one goal in common. Communication. However, some of these signs fail to communicate with those suffering with some vision deficiencies such as colorblindness, short or long sightedness and even just illiteracy.
I will be exploring factors that make road signs great, but also some improvements that could be made to take them to the next level.
