Double vision, also known as diplopia, is a condition where a person sees two images of a single object. It can affect one or both eyes and can be caused by various factors, such as eye muscle problems, nerve damage and even brain disorders. However, many people simply brush it off as a symptom of a migraine.
I want the poster to look professional as it is an issue that primarily affects those who are older, and they will often engage more with a poster that looks more professional.
I first started off by removing the background of an image I took from my primary source photos:
I first tried just adjusting the colours in the image and applying some transparency so that you could see the colour below it. However, I really didn’t like this and it felt quite tacky.
I then experimented by applying a halftone filter to the image. I much prefer this to just using transparency, and it really helps it to look professional
The stereoscopic effect works by showing 2 different images in different colours to someone wearing special glasses with filters in, allowing them to see only only one part of the image. This allows the brain to perceive it as 3D. Unfortunately this has no effect on me as I have very little vision in one eye, severely impacting my depth perception. Here is what it looks like with both images overlaid on top of each other:
I first started off by using a standard font and liquified it in Affinity Designer. I really like this effect as it creates contrast to the image below it from the industrial look of the red and blue, to the more organic feel of the title. Its also far more interesting and enticing to the audience, and it should help to draw them in.
I then added some statistics and a list of potential diseases that it could be caused by. I didn’t really want to do anything special here as I felt that it distract from the message I was trying to send.
