Artist Research - Pavlov Visuals

Pavlov Visuals is a design agency based in the US and Amsterdam created by the founders Calvin and Ryan Sprague. At around the age 13, they would play music together when they started to learn and appreciate the visual side of music. They started off by designing flyers, posters and CD covers for their brand, and they soon realised that music and design are mutually coherent, leading to the creation of their Agency.

They find their inspiration from small things like cycling and taking in their surroundings, listening to music, watching movies, and hearing other people’s stories. Their distinct style is influenced by Art Deco, stain glass patterns, Bauhaus, pop psychedelism and the bold graphic signature of Milton Glaser and Saul Bass.

They’ve worked with clients such as Apple, Disney, Microsoft, Adobe, Target and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Below are some examples of their work:

I love the minimalist but vibrant designs they come up with. The minimalist aspects such as the thin stroke and simple shapes help to promote the sense of professionalism I want and will help to distinguish the product as high-end. This works well with the saturated colours they pick as it helps to grab the eye of customers as they walk past the product in the aisle.
