Branding Guidelines - Colours

Picking the Colours

To help with choosing my colours, I split it into 2 distinct sections. One is for the colours used in the logo and other promotional graphics, whereas the other section is what colours should be used to promote what flavours.

Flavourings Colours

To help pick colours for the flavourings, I first decided to do some consumer research to find out what colours people associate with certain types of flavours. One such example of this is how light blue/turquoise is associated with freshness.

By conducting this research, I’d get a deeper understanding into why people pick certain products over others, helping to develop sales for my company.

To help with this I conducted a survey where I would

  1. show potential customers a colour and ask them to associate it with a flavour
  2. give potential customers a flavour and associate it with a colour

To help increase the number of results for my survey, I kept it brief and used 5 examples from each category. Below you can see the results of my research:

Promotional Colours

To help keep continuity between all the various packaging and other promotional graphics I used the colours I picked to represent flavours as a starting point. I then also picked an off-white and a not-so black colour to compliment these. I chose to do this instead of picking fully white/black as its more comforting, easy on the eyes, and adds a touch of warmth to the designs. This all helps to promote the friendly ideas I want with the brand.
